Lake Forest Day, held on the first Tuesday and Wednesday of August for more than a century, brings a parade along Deerpath Road and Western Avenue and a carnival in West Park. The city’s July 4th Festival and Fireworks fills Deerpath Community Park, and Market Square, opened in 1916 and known as the first planned shopping center in the country, hosts community events on its green.
